This was meant to be white, but looks like cheese....
Oh well, this can happen with grass feed beef fat. This one was VERY yellow - each animals fat is a bit different, depending on the food, climate and possibly the breed as well. I put some Kaolin clay in there, hoping that it would make it whiter, but nope - no such luck. Hopefully you all like "cheese soap".... LOL
The colour is more like in the second photo - sometimes it's hard to get the actual colour represented on the photo...
They weigh around 90g per bar.

100% tallow (As with all our tallow, the fat came from a farmer friend here in the Marlborough Sounds and was rendered by us - we do render all our tallow ourselves).

I put a lot of care into the recipe - because normally 100% tallow soaps don't lather very well, I added some sugar and citric acid, which helps to get more lather and also decided to use the dual lye method. I used mainly the usual sodium hydroxide (NaOh - lye), but added a part of potassium hydroxide (KOH - lye) as well. This is usually used for liquid soaps, but has the advantage here of producing a bit more lather than a 100% NaOh soap usually would.

I used no fragrance, to make this a soap very suitable for people with sensitive skin and skin problems.

Soap ingredients:

Saponified fats: 100% Tallow.
Water, Glycerine*, Citric Acid, Sugar, Kaolin Clay

*Please note that I don't put any extra glycerine into the soap - this is just the glycerine that is created naturally during the soap making process.
According to NZ labelling rules the final ingredients of a product have to be listed.

The stamp I used is not made by us, I bought it from SoapStamps4You in the UK - I just loved it so much. Perfect for my 100% Tallow soaps.
