Description
After 5 years of research and trying out new recipes I finally got a shampoo bar my hair seems to be really happy with.
Individual hair seems to have very different needs, that is why I made these small tester bars - so you don't waste so much money when you want to give it a try. Feedback would be great - and when I see there is a need for it - I can make more of the bigger bars. (These testers weigh about 14g, plenty for several washes)
You won't even need an extra conditioner with these bars, it's basically build in. I really noticed a big difference.
I do rinse my hair with vinegar after washing (2 TBSP vinegar to about 1l Water). That helps to brings the pH of the hair and scalp back to its preferred acidic range, supporting a healthy acid mantle and bacterial flora.
Soap is scented with a essential oils: Orange 5fold, Rosemary
Saponified oils of (Coconut, NZ Rape Seed, Castor, Cacao butter). Rosemary infused apple cider vinegar, SCI*, Glycerine, Essential oil, citric acid, Vegetable Silicone**
*SCI = Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate (SCI) Powder
"Sodium cocoyl isethionate is a coconut oil-based surfactant. It is very mild on skin, hair and eyes and has a silky skin feel. SCI makes a great lather and is good for making liquid shampoos and shampoo bars. .... -Based on fatty acids from natural, renewable coconut oil.... -Biodegradable....
Our SCI powder is very fine which can be irritating. We recommend using a dusk mask when handling."

Personal site note:
And boy - don't I know what damage that powder can do.... I made the mistake of adding it to my soap without wearing a mask - and felt it immediately rising into my sinuses - I was sick for solid 3 weeks, headache, sinuses hurt, coughing - it was awful. When I'm using it now, I'll wear hubby's dust mask! Never again. But it's really nice for your hair. Believe me, that I would never touch it again otherwise.
**Vegetable Silicone
This is derived from olive oil, acts like a hair conditioner and "improves hair brightness and smoothness (easier combing), like silicones"
