Anise Moon
Scented with: Anise and Fennel Essential Oil
Stock Status: Sold Out
Description
A beautiful Anise Moon, from the same batch as the Anise Seed Wheel soap.
I used anise and fennel essential oils in this soap as I read in my soap making groups that fishermen and hunters often use soap with anise Essential oil to either mask their human scents or get rid of fishy smells. Some say that the anise oil attracts fish and deer but I am not sure if that is a myth or not.
So, if you are followed by fish or deer after using this soap, please let me know!!!
The scent is not very strong, as the safety margin for the use of both anise and fennel essential oils is very low. But it still has a very pleasant mild licorice-like scent.

Properties of oils / materials used:
Tallow | Provides excellent hardness to soap for long-lasting bars. Produces a creamy lather with good cleansing properties. Contains skin-friendly vitamins A, D, E, and K. Natural antioxidants help protect the skin. All our tallow originates from pasture-raised beef and sheep in the Marlborough Sounds, sourced directly from farms and rendered by us to ensure the best quality. |
Coconut | Creates a bubbly and effective cleansing lather. Adds firmness to soap bars for durability. Contains natural antioxidants to provide some skin protection. |
Olive | Offers gentle cleansing with a soft and luxurious lather. High oleic acid content makes it superb for nourishing the skin. Rich in vitamin E, a potent antioxidant for skin protection. |
Sunflower Oil (High Oleic) | Contributes to a creamy and stable lather in soap, enhancing its cleansing properties. Rich in oleic acid, sunflower oil helps nourish and soften the skin without feeling greasy. Contains antioxidants such as Vitamin E, which may help protect the skin from environmental stressors. These properties of high oleic sunflower oil make it a valuable addition to soap, offering cleansing, nourishing, and protective benefits for the skin. Even better - this Sunflower oil HO is produced here in New Zealand. |
Rice Bran | Balances cleansing and nourishing properties. Provides a creamy lather for a pampering bathing experience. Contains vitamin E (tocopherols) and gamma-oryzanol, natural antioxidants for skin health. |
Castor | Attracts moisture to the skin, ensuring hydration. Enhances lather and bubbles for a satisfying wash. Contains vitamin E and essential fatty acids for some skin nourishment. |
Citric acid | in your soap serves a dual purpose. It helps your soap perform well in hard water by preventing mineral build up, ensuring a rich lather. Additionally, it acts as a natural preservative, extending the soap's shelf life for a longer-lasting product you'll enjoy. |
Sugar | Added to soap recipes to increase lather and bubbles. Acts as a natural humectant, attracting moisture to the skin. |
Micas | are natural mineral-based pigments that are used to add colour and shimmer to soap. They come in various shades and are often used to create visually appealing and decorative patterns in soap bars. Micas are safe for use in cosmetics and soap because they do not contain synthetic dyes or harmful chemicals, making them a popular choice for adding vibrant and eye-catching colour. |
Essential Oils | It's important to note that while essential oils have gained popularity for their natural origins, they can be potent and should be used with care. Essential oils may trigger allergies or skin sensitivities in some individuals, and their usage often requires dilution and proper knowledge. Which is why we’re very careful in our usage of them and often prefer to use Fragrance oils. We adhere to European safety regulations and never put more than 3% into our oils and usually use a mix of Essential oils to really be on the safe side here. As with our fragrance oils, we only buy from reputable sellers. |
